Happy Birthday!

I decided to copy Andrea's post for my kids' birthdays. I am doing this today because I may not have time tomorrow. Here goes...

Mike and I had been married for just over a year when we decided it was time to start our family. It took about a week for me to get pregnant. I kept getting negative results though. My mom still makes fun of me. "It's not the tests that get you pregnant." Haha mom. I knew I was pregnant so I kept taking tests. When I finally got the positive result the second pink line was so faint Mike thought I was crazy.

I had a pretty uneventful pregnancy. I lost a few pounds in the beginning and had to eat 2 breakfasts to put on weight. My Dr. left Nevada when I was about 20 weeks. I didn't like my new Doc but didn't want to start again so late in the pregnancy.

I had an ultrasound at 35 weeks. The doctor came in and said the baby wasn't gaining much weight and wanted to do another ultrasound in 2 weeks just to make sure she was still growing. So I went back at 37 weeks. She had only gained a few ounces in two weeks. I was sent home on bedrest. This was on Friday afternoon. I was told to go to the hospital Sunday night. Gary and Tallon came over and gave me a blessing Sunday before we went to the hospital.

We arrived at the hospital and they started the IV and all that fun stuff. They gave me a sleeping pill so I would be rested for the next day when they induced me.

The next morning they started the Pitocin at 9:00. I went from no contractions whatsoever to full on, every minute, no time to catch your breath labor immediately. The nurse came in to check me at about 11:00 and told me that the anethesiologist was on his way to a c-section and asked if I wanted the epidural now or if I wanted to wait. I got my epidural at 11:30. HEAVEN !! I give kudos to those of you that give birth drug free.

We watched The Patriot while we awaited the birth of our oldest child. At about 2:00 I was feeling lots of pressure so I called the nurse and told her the baby was on its way out. She told me it wasn't and I was just feeling pressure from the contractions. I told her to check and she would feel the baby's head. Sure enough Jercie head was right there. They called the Doc and I started pushing. I think I only pushed 3 or 4 times. They had to use the vaccuum extractor because she was having heart decelerations (it had dropped to 59 bpm at one point) and we needed to get her out ASAP.

At 2:45 p.m. my sweet baby Jercie was brought into this crazy world. She was absolutely perfect. Later that night when was in the postpartem room she started getting really ashy. I called the nurse in and they rushed her back to the nursery. They had to give her oxygen. After awhile they brought her back to me.

Jercie has been such a wonderful kid. Whenever I needed smile I can always count on her to give me one. She is a very silly, loving, sweet girl. How can you not laugh with this kid?

She is an awesome big sister. She loves without limits.

(can you find her?)

We love you Sissy!!

  2. I just came across that pic on my computer a few weeks ago and was thinking of how tiny she was. It's weird to think how fast they grow up. I love her school pic on your sidebar, it's too cute. Send me one if you have extras.
