Random Pictures

Grammy's float in the Homecoming Parade. The kids had fun getting candy.

Kaia and Blaze love to color. I have never known a 15 month old that loves to color as much as Kaia. She carries around a book and crayons all day.

My birthday cake. I think this is the first year Mike has ever bought me a cake. I usually have to make my own or my mom buys one for me. He decorated it too. He didn't want me to forget that I'm 29. After putting all those candles on, he didn't even light them. He said he didn't have time. :)

Kaia stole the Cookie Crisp out of the cupboard this morning. She got busted.

I curled Kaia's hair for the first time today. She did such a good job. Her hair is so stinkin' fine! She gets that from me unfortunately.

I couldn't get her to take a nap this morning. I guess she was pretty tuckered out after lunch. She was sitting there eating, and I looked up and she was passed out. I was able to get her all cleaned up and into bed without waking her up.

Just a little update

So remember how I said Blaze might not be able to stay in preschool because of his birth certificate? And remember how I said I resubmitted the online form and e-mailed them for confirmation? Well I got confirmation that they didn't receive the application. UGH! So I printed off the form, filled it out and sent it in this morning.
I talked to the preschool principal and explained everything to her. She was really nice about it all. She said that she would talk to Mrs. Batty, Blaze's teacher, and tell her it is okay for him to stay. She told me that if it's not here by the 5th of October to give her a call and we will go from there. I am going to call the Health Department on Monday and see if they got the paperwork. I'm also going to ask them if there is anyway we can put a rush on it. I just don't want Blaze to miss out because of some stupid technicality.

I did ask him the other day what he would do if he couldn't go to preschool anymore. He said that would be fine. I was like but you won't see Braydon there. He was like, well can I still play with him on his days off? I said yes. He said well that would be okay then. I guess he won't be as devastated as I thought. He's a pretty laid back kind of kid. His sister on the other hand would have had a major melt down if I had even suggested it to her. ;).

GRASS!!

We officially have a back lawn. We still have to lay the other side of the driveway, but half of the back is in. We also got the side yard done. I probably shouldn't say "we". Mike did all the work, I just sprayed it down a couple times.

The back lawn. The part that's done anyway. :)

Mike finished laying the sod on Sunday afternoon, Monday morning the neighbor's horse jumped the fence and trampled ALL of the new lawn. Mike was sick. He came in looking for his gun. He was ready to shoot the horse. He then decided that cleaning up dead horse wasn't worth it. He talked to the neighbor and he came over and help Mike fix all the hoof prints in the lawn. They had to pull up the sod and fill in the holes in the dirt under it. It took them about an hour to fix it all. Thank goodness we have good neighbors. He also put the horse in a corral so she wouldn't be able to jump the fence again.

In other news, Kaia now tells us when she's ready to go to bed. She will go in and get her binky and blanket and try to climb into her bed. The first time she did this I brought her out and tried to play with her. She just went right back in her room and tried to climb in the crib. I put her in bed and she was asleep within minutes. She also climbs onto the couch and into the window. It's her favorite place to sit. I don't have any pictures of it yet, but I will get some and post them. She also loves to swing. If we go outside she points and says swing. She likes the big kid swings though so I have to sit on the ground next to her and make sure she doesn't fall off.

Jercie is loving dance and school. She likes to say she can't do stuff. It drives me crazy because I know she can. She is getting really good at reading. I just can't believe she is so dang big!!

Blaze loves preschool. I was told last night that if I don't have his birth certificate by the end of the week he won't be able to go anymore. I ordered it last month and never received it. I resubmitted the form last night and sent an e-mail this morning. I am also waiting for a return call from the district to see if they will let him stay in until it gets here. It would break his heart if he couldn't go anymore. So keep your fingers crossed that he will be able to stay.

Hee Haw

So last night Mike, Jercie and I were outside, Jercie was galloping around us yelling giddy up. I just started laughing because it reminded me of this little gem right here.

(Please pay no attention to my nasally voice. Pregnancy and a cold don't go well together )

Which led me to find these treasures. Jercie is one funny little girl. These were all taken while I was pregnant with Blaze so they are almost 5 years old. My how time flies and children change.

I still laugh until I cry every single time I watch these. My stomach still hurts :)

Dance Dance

Jercie has had her first and second dance classes. So far she loves it. She came home the first day and said they didn't even dance. I don't really buy that. She was doing pirouettes the next day. I think that's what it was anyway. I'm a dance retard. I don't know anything about it, unless it's clogging but I don't really count that as dance. Sorry all you cloggers out there. lol I got her shoes she had to have black jazz shoes and pink ballet shoes. Her jazz shoes are a little big even though I bought the same size as the ballet shoes. Weird. She has a couple girls from her class at school in there with her so at least she knows somebody. Here she is before class last night. I had to pull her bangs back into her ponytail because they were getting in her eyes and we didn't have time to curl them again. She was reading before class and decided to throw a fit and take an hour to read her book, but that's a story for a different day. Or maybe never. :)

Kaia is getting way too big for my liking. She is walking like a pro and even trying to run. Usually when I am right behind her trying to grab her. She still prefers her daddy to anybody, but if I'm the only one there I will do. If you mention a baby she will go find the Cabbage Patch Kid. She will start off loving it and then Mike will tell her to poke it in the eye and so of course she does. She also bonks the baby's head and hits the baby all on Mike's command. She loves to share her stuff with you, even if you don't want any. She will force it into your mouth. She is too funny. She gets really silly just before bed time. But she gets super cranky and mean before her nap. She will walk around and yell at everybody in her path. She also loves to mess with Kola. This morning she would steal Kola's toy and run across the couch and throw it. She would then throw herself back against the couch and laugh. I wish she would let me get video of her doing these silly things, but she sees the camera and stops dead.

Blaze is loving preschool. He gets to ride the bus in the morning and afternoon. For some reason or another the bus driver forgot to pick him and Braydon up yesterday so Kaylyn (Braydon's mom) took them over. Those two boys are going to give Kaylyn and I gray hair I'm sure. They both tried to sneak Transformers this morning. They must have planned it out, but they both got busted.

So that's what has been going on the last week at our house.

And the beat goes on...

So we have had a lot going on lately it seems. Hopefully it will all slow down after today. We had Jeremy, Andrea, and Ryan come to visit on Sunday. We had lunch, beer can chicken, green salad, and grilled corn on the cob. It was so good. After lunch we went out on the lawn and watched all the kids play (Mike and Jeremy included.) They played catch, monkey in the middle, and our favorite game, throw the ball as hard as you can at the other players' heads. Here's some pictures and video to give you an idea of how the game is played...

I only wish I would have been recording when Mike snapped Blaze's head back with a ball. He was very tough though and didn't cry even when Jeremy pegged him right after. It's one of my kids favorite games to play.

Kaia has been walking for a couple days, but she would stop as soon as she would see you were watching. She is still a little wobbley and every once in a while you will see her hip give out. Luckily she has some control and catches herself before she falls. Yesterday was the first day she really walked everywhere she went whether you were watching or not. She is getting a lot braver. I got about 11 seconds of video because she still doesn't like the camera. Here she is...

Blaze had his first day of preschool today. He already has a couple friends in class. Braydon and Jaxon. I saw Braydon this morning and he asked me to go get Blaze ready and bring him to him. (did that last sentence even make sense?) I told him we would meet him over at the school. We walked in the door and Blaze went right in and did what he was asked to do. When it was time for me to go I told him I was leaving. He was like, K Bye. I said do you want a hug and kiss or anything. He was like no Bye. I was very proud of him. Here are some pictures of him at school...

And when I got home from dropping Blaze off at school, this is what I found...

Apparently after Mike got her dressed she brought him Jercie's swimming suit to put on. She wouldn't leave him alone about it so he gave in. Notice the awesome hair too. :)

And last but not least, Jercie is starting her Jazz/Ballet class tonight. Her class is from 5:45 to 6:30 every Tuesday night. I am excited for her to learn to dance. She is excited too. I will post more about that another day.

Ever have one of those days?

I did today. Holy cow! I'm surprised dinner got on the table at all.

The day started out great. I went to bed early last night so I was in bed, lights out, by 10:00. Kaia woke up at around 7:30. So 9 1/2 hours is a good night's sleep I would say. I was able to get the laundry room cleaned and vacuumed, the bathroom scrubbed, the kitchen cleaned, floors swept and mopped, and the living room cleaned up and vacuumed. All by noon. :)

I figured after that busy morning I deserved an afternoon off. So I watched Army Wives. I got the second season from Netflix. I watched however many episodes are on a disc. 5 I think. Anyway, after that I came in the kitchen to get stuff ready for dinner and there were graham crackers covering the table and my freshly swept and mopped floor. Oh well quick fix. I turned on the oven to preheat it for dinner. I was mixing up the bread dough when I noticed some smoke coming from the vents in the stove. I looked inside and what did I find, but the peanut butter bars I made Monday for family home evening. I had a plastic lid on them. Needless to say it melted all over the inside of my oven. It covered the racks and the bottom of the oven. It was a mess. I'm surprised the smoke alarm didn't wake Mike up. It went off like 5 times. :) I got that all cleaned up and put the pork chops in. I put some butter in there to melt so I could put my bread in it. I left it in there for a little too long apparently and scorched the butter. I cleaned out the pan, put some more butter in there and got the bread in the oven.

Finally at about 7:30 dinner was on the table. It was definitely worth the hell I went through to get it there. I made Cola Pork Chops the recipe can be found here. And I made the fabulous bread that Andrea recommended here. So good. I think you all should make it for dinner TONIGHT!!

You'll never believe...

what happened at the Jorgensen house tonight, but I'll tell you anyway.

A few weeks ago I went in to talk to the bishop. He asked if Mike and I would like to be the assistant activities directors for the ward. I think he was a little nervous to ask. He told me to talk to Mike about it and he would stop by and talk to both of us. (I had told him earlier that if he wanted to talk to Mike he would have to come to our house. Mike's weird like that.) I talked to Mike and he said that it would be kind of fun and that one day HE would be the actual activities director. I'm not so sure I'm okay with that.

Fast forward to tonight. We were sitting on the porch talking and around the corner comes Bishop Mills and Brother Payne. We talked to them for a few minutes, and Mike turns to Bishop and says, " I hear you have a calling for me."
Bishop: Do you want it?
Mike: We've been thinking about it.
Bishop: Well, did you decide?
Mike: Yeah we'll do it.
The bishop then turns to me and I said, " As long as Mike is willing to help I'll do it too."
So I guess Mike and I will be the assistant activities directors under the Washburns. Bishop said that the Washburns requested us for the job awhile ago. I'm kind of excited, I think it will be a good calling for us.
