The most beautiful kids in the universe...

I had an old friend from high school come and take some pictures of the kids. I used Kaia turning one as an excuse to get new pictures taken. :) She came over to the house and just took them around the yard. They actually turned out really cute considering my yard isn't done yet. I think she did an excellent job capturing my kids' personalities, of which they have an abundance.

I'm thinking...

...that I should update the blog, even though there isn't much to update on...
...that I should sign the kids up for swimming lessons, even though I really don't want to...
...that Blaze is awesome, because he likes to sleep in...
...that Mike is awesome because sometimes he lets me sleep in (and many other reasons too)
...that I can't wait for the last day of school on Thursday, and that the last week of school is really pointless...
...that we will make a trip to Alamo on the 8th of June...
...that I hope they schedule Alexander's surgery soon and that all goes well...
...that Kaia will be one in a month and I'm not quite ready for that...
...that Kaia will be walking soon and I'm really not ready for that...
...that Jercie has to be one of the best little girls in the universe for getting herself up this morning and getting herself ready for school...
...about what I'm going to do with the kids all summer...
...that Blaze will be starting preschool in the fall and can't figure out where the time has gone...

So now that you know what I'm thinking about tell me what you're thinking about...

Saddle Up!

Every May my parents donate countless hours, and immeasurable energy to a charity event called Saddle Up for St. Jude. They collect donations for dinner, breakfast, and an auction. They also do a horse ride that my dad leads. I make a Better Than Sex Cake every year for the dinner. My mom and Sharon make cakes as well and over see the auction. I know there is way more that they do, but that is all I can think of right at this moment. All the proceeds go to St. Jude Research Hospital.

It's a lot of work, but I think it's one of the highlights of their year. It also falls on their anniversary weekend every year. My dad stops toward the end of the ride and picks wildflowers and ties it with a horse hair for my mom. My dad has never bought my mom flowers, but I think these bouquets are better anyway. :) So Happy 33rd anniversary Mom and Dad. I love you guys. You are the best!

Here are a couple pictures of the kids up on the mountain for the event...

Swingin' and other random happenings

We got the kids a new swing set. Blaze told us it better have a tree house on it. lol Mike was up all last night putting it together. When I say all night I mean all night. He started at 2 in the afternoon and finished at about midnight. He still has to put the monkey bars on it, but they can wait a day or two. He is going to get some wood chips today to put under it. Here are some pics of the kids and the swing set.

In other news, Jercie lost her 5th tooth. The toothfairy only had a dollar on her but told daddy that she would come back and leave a little more. Apparently she had a lot of stops to make and didn't bring enough money. ;) Jercie decided that the tooth needed to come out so she pulled it out by herself. She's a funny girl.

Kaia fell out of the front door yesterday afternoon. She landed on her face on the welcome mat. I guess she wasn't welcome, because it scratched her face up pretty good. It looks much better today. :)

As for Blaze he is just crazy. He came in yesterday after being told to get dressed, in a pair of Jercie's capri pants. I tried to tell them that they were girl pants, but he didn't want to hear it. He was extremely upset about it, telling me they weren't girl pants and he was wearing them! I calmly told him that if he didn't change he didn't get to go outside to play. He finally went in and changed his pants only to come out with another pair of Jercie's on. I told him yet again that they were girl pants and he laughed and said, "Are you kidding me?" I guess he took Jercie's pants and put them in his drawer. His birthday was really good. We just did cake and ice cream and invited Grammy and Papa and Sharon over. He wanted pizza for dinner and so that is what he got. I still can't believe that he is 4 and will be starting preschool next year. Where does the time go??

Here are just some random pictures and some of Blaze's birthday.

4 Years Ago Today...

Blaze Clinton Jorgensen was brought into this world. I will give you a little background... be prepared for details you may not want to hear. :)
Jercie was 18 months when we decided to try for our second baby. Just before she turned 2 I found out I was pregnant. My first clue wasn't what most people experience, my chest hurt like no other. I wasn't expecting my period for a couple more days but decided to test anyway. I was prepared for a negative result, so when I got an instant positive I cried. I had planned on telling Mike in a cutesy way, but I just couldn't wait until he got home. I called him in tears, "We're pregnant!!" He was surprised as well, he didn't even know I was thinking about testing. The first few weeks went fairly well. I was sick as a dog. I didn't ever throw up, but I wasn't myself either. I felt like I was living in a cloud for the first 3 months of the pregnancy. I seriously don't know how Jercie survived. I would get up feed her breakfast and I was on the couch until Mike got home. When the morning sickness passed. I started spotting. I talked to the doctor about it and she said it was okay, the baby still had a heartbeat. At 19 weeks we got to find out that we were having a boy! Unfortunately at that same appointment we also found out that I had a placenta previa. For those that don't know what that is, it's when the placenta partially covers, or completely covers the cervix. Not good for vaginal delivery as mom and baby could possibly not make it through. It also meant bed rest until it moved or I delivered. Pretty difficult with a 2 year old, but I survived, with the help of my mom and Annette. And of course, Mike. He would come home from work, load me into the truck and take me for a drive every afternoon. I also had to go to a perinatologist every other week and my regular O.B. every other week. I had some pretty traumatic experiences after the previa was discovered. I woke up in the middle of the night to a gush of fluid. I went to the bathroom to discover a clot the size of my palm. I sat in the bathroom and cried. Mike came in to check on me, and I told him we needed to go to the hospital. Luckily, Aunt Angela lived in Vegas too, so we called her up and had her meet us at the hospital to pick up Jercie. I was admitted to the hospital for 48 hours, and was given steroid shots just in case. They informed me that the next time I would be admitted until the baby was born. Dr. Layton was positive the placenta was going to move in time for me to have a natural delivery. Dr. Adachek wasn't so sure. It only had to move 2 mm. It didn't move and I had another episode of bleeding on May 4. They did an amnio the next morning to check his lungs and prepped me for the C-section. I was going to have a baby. Or so I thought. After they got the results Dr. Layton told me we had to wait a week because his lungs were borderline and she didn't want to risk it. I cried. I was so upset, but I knew that it was best if he baked a little while longer. So in the hospital I stayed for a week. It wasn't too bad, I guess. Jercie was shuffled between Grandma Annette's and Grammy's house, because Mike had to work.
Finally, after 3 hospital rooms, too much hospital food, and entirely too much time away from my little girl and husband, B-Day had arrived. At 6:30 I was taken down to the O.R. I was wheeled of course. Mike held my hand as they gave me the spinal. When Dr. Layton pulled the light down I got really nauseous and felt like I was going to pass out. Mike says I was white as a sheet and my blood pressure dropped. They gave me something in my IV and I was feeling a little better. As the pulling started so did the gagging. I gagged until he was out and then I was fine. He was born at 7:01 a.m. He was 6 lbs 1 oz and 17 3/4 inches long. Pretty big for a baby that was 4 weeks early. We also found out why the placenta didn't move. There was no room for it to. It was as big as Blaze. :)
I held Blaze as I was wheeled to the recovery room. They gave him his first bath right there so I could watch. As the nurse was bathing him she noticed he wasn't breathing quite right. They whisked him away to the NICU. Mike went with the baby. I waited for them to bring him to my room. When he didn't show up I called the NICU to find out what was going on. They told me that he had to stay, and I could come see him as soon as I felt up to going down there. At about 6:00 p.m. I was wheeled down to the NICU. There was this cute dark baby in Blaze's bassinet. I told Mike that they must have mixed up the babies because that was an indian baby. He assured me that he was ours. He fought for the first few days of his life. His lungs weren't filling fully when he took a breath, he also had a heart murmur and had to have a cardiologist check him out. Luckily, he was cleared to go home with me after 4 days. He has been a little spit fire ever since.
Blaze is always trying to fight, but when you need a hug he is the first one there to give it to you. He is Kaia's biggest fan, and loves to hug and kiss on her. He and Jercie are the best of friends and the worst of enemies. They get along for the most part. I am so grateful that he was brought into our family. I wouldn't trade him for any other little boy in the world. Happy Birthday Blazer! I love you!!!

No Boys Allowed

This is Jercie

This is spike :)

Spike in her new car seat (don't mind that it's facing forward. I have since made it rearward ) :)

Spike having a nap in the bean bag :)

Okay so yesterday was Girl's Day. Jercie was so excited. We got in the truck and she said, " Mom, there's no boys allowed, no Blaze singing. I don't like it when Blaze sings. It's just the girls today." She wrote a story on the way to St. George entitled "Jercie's family". It was a picture story, it was pretty good too. When we got there we went to JC Penny and picked up Andrea. Then we went to Del Taco for lunch. I know I know, who goes to Del Taco for girl's day lunch. The answer is Tonia. Then we went to Kohl's and from there to Target. I had to get Mike's replacement sunglasses so we headed to the sunglass hut where we met up with Jeremy, Grandma Helen and Ryan. Jeremy snuck up behind Jercie and headed to the door. I saw him coming from the corner of my eye so I knew she was okay, the saleslady on the other hand didn't I thought for sure she was going to tackle him. lol I let her know it was okay and Jercie's face was priceless. I have taught her to kick and scream, " you aren't my daddy" but the lessons fell upon deaf ears apparently. As we were getting ready to leave Jercie informed me that no girl's day is complete without the purchase of a purse, so we had to stop at every kids store by the Sunglass Hut to find her a purse. Finally at Osh Kosh we found her one. She loves it and has to take it everywhere we go. She was so good all day. And so was Kaia. Well Kaia was until the ride home. She rode in her new car seat and couldn't figure out how to get comfy enough to fall asleep. Needless to say she cried from the junction until we got home. Thanks my far away friend for meeting up with us and hanging out. It was fun.

Mother's day is today! I'm sure you all know, if not you are in trouble. :) I didn't get to sleep in, or get breakfast in bed, but it was a fabulous day nontheless. I have wonderful kids and a fantastic husband. I got home from church and on the table was a bouquet of yellow roses, (because red ones are boring) and a sweet card. I don't think my kids have told me happy mother's day, but that's okay, just having them around is present enough. I'm done being sappy now I think. I am making a roast for dinner and Mike is in town right now picking up a cheesecake. So to all the mother's out there and the mother's to be and those who don't even want kids, Happy Mother's Day!! You are all amazing.

Crafty Lady

I don't know what has gotten into me lately, but I have become a crafting fool. I think it might have started with the Pay it Forward giveaway I did. I can't be sure. I made my craft for that I won't post it because the girls haven't received them yet and I don't want them to know yet. :) But here are a few pictures of the latest and greatest Tonia Craft Lady crafts. lol

These are flowers for the girls' hair. You can clip them on a headband or just clip them in their hair.

This is the back of the flowers :)

These are the blankets I made for Kaden and Jaylee. I just crocheted around the edges.

That does it for my craftiness for now. Once I hear from my giveaway winners I will post pictures of that craft.

A sad day at the Jorgensen house. :(

My nephew Kaden is getting blessed tomorrow. I was going to brave the wilds of 3 small children and drive the 4 hours it takes to get there. Unfortunately my other nephew Ryan is sick with the dreaded gombu!! Maybe it's the dreaded swine flu ;). Probably not. Anyway, seeing as Kaia has recently been sick with a similar dreaded illness, we have decided to forego the blessing. Jercie was VERY disappointed to say the least. She cried and raged. I made promises of a girl's day in St. George next week.

She has since spent her day in front of the Wii. She has also banned the mention of anybody living in the Alamo area, because it reminds her how sad she is about not getting to go.
