The Haunting...

Halloween has finally come and gone. I have been hearing about and planning Halloween costumes for what seems like forever. I made Jercie and Kaia's costumes and bought Blaze's. He wanted to be Robin from Teen Titans. I ordered the costume on the 24th. I figured that was plenty of time  to get it here. I wasn't sure if the preschool was going to do a Halloween party or not, but was secretly hoping they wouldn't. Well, on Tuesday I got a note telling me to send Blaze in his costume to school on Wednesday. WHAT?!?! One day notice? Are you kidding me? Robin still wasn't here so I asked my mom to go and find something for Blaze to wear. She found a Duke costume. Duke is a G.I. Joe for those of you who have been hiding under a rock. He was pretty stoked about it. I asked if he still wanted to be Robin and he said no. Fast forward to yesterday morning when the Robin costume finally showed up. That's right, it didn't get here until Halloween morning. Now Blaze wants to be Robin. I decided that I wasn't going to spend over $50 for Blaze's costumes, so Robin is going back. Needless to say, Blaze was ticked. He cried and told me I was mean. I finally had had enough. I told him that he had 2 choices, he could cry and not go trick or treating or he could suck it up and dress up as G.I. Joe and get some candy. He chose the latter. Thank goodness. Here he is all dressed up and looking AWESOME!!

Jercie got to dress up twice as well. She was a vampire fairy. She was just going to be a vampire, then she was inspired and decided to add the fairy into it. It's pretty original and it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. I made the tutu and just added little bits and pieces of other things to it. I was so proud of her hair, and she cried when she saw it. I told her that if she was going to throw a fit I wasn't going to do anything for Halloween next year. She finally got over it and let me paint her face and add some sweet teeth marks to her neck.

And then there was Kaia. Last year I saw this idea, but had already bought her Marie costume so I filed it away for this year. I made her tutu, added leaves to her halo and wings, and put some cocoa powder on her knees and elbows (though you can't see that part). Can you guess what she was?

She was a fallen angel. I also dusted her face with cocoa powder, but you can't see that either. She got into the candy as soon as we got down to the trunk or treat so her face was plenty dirty by the time we left.

We had fun, but I sure am glad it's over.

  1. Love the costumes. My boys changed their minds too. Tys decided not to dress up at all the day of and Ryan didn't want to wear his Rod costume, so he ended up using Tyson's costume and all was right in the world...

  3. Your mommy style is similar to mine... deal or you don't do it! I love the costumes and the fallen angel idea is way cute! $50 for a costume? I wouldn't do that either. I think costumes and makeup ran us about $15 this year!
